Healthy fact: Diaphragmatic or deep breathing will help reduce anxiety and can be done anywhere. Begin by lying down and placing your hands on your belly button. As you take a deep breath in you will feel your hands rising gently. Exhale slowly so your hands fall down. Continue to breathe out as you pull your belly button towards your spine; then hold for two seconds. If your hands do not move up and down, you are not getting the benefits of the deep breathing. Practice this until you can do this while sitting, standing or walking.
